Prof. Frostestad at AALL Conference and on Law.com

Over the summer, Prof. Heidi Frostestad, Director of the Law Library and Associate Professor of Law, participated in a panel discussion later covered in a Law.com article. Prof. Frostestad and her fellow panelists presented at the American Association of Law Libraries conference in Denver on "Designing Data Projects Using Court Records." Their panel became the topic of a Law.com article titled "Public Data Projects Provide Legal Transparency—If You Get Past Data, Cost Roadblocks," by Zach Warren.

In the article, Warren summarized the panel as exploring "some of the opportunities and roadblocks that come with building data projects out of publicly available data" and quotes Prof. Frostestad on topic of ethical and privacy concerns about court records, based on her experience as Circuit Librarian at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She reminded researchers of the "real tension between providing pure open access" and the need to protect personally identifiable information of those involved in "the hot topic habeas cases and appeals" that researchers are eager to investigate.

Congratulations to Prof. Frostestad on an engaging presentation and positive reception! For more of her scholarship, check out the many fascinating publications linked from her faculty profile, on SSRN, or in HeinOnline
