Preparing for Fall Finals

The days are getting shorter, the last leaves are about to fall, and the Law Library's book display is featuring study guides. It's mid-November, and all signs point to the coming end of the semester!

The last day of classes will be Tuesday, November 26th. The Law Library will be open as usual that day but will close early at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27th. OneCard access will be turned off from then until Sunday, December 1st at 6:00 a.m. We hope you have an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday weekend with time to celebrate and relax in preparation for studying!

During reading days and finals (Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 20th), the Law Library will be open via OneCard access only, and the entire library will be a designated Quiet Zone for law students' silent study. Please be mindful of your fellow students and keep conversation to a minimum when in the Law Library. Group study and casual chats should take place in the study rooms, student lounge, North Wing, or elsewhere in Swen Parson. Daily study room reservations are limited to 2 hours per person or 4 hours per group. 

NIU faculty, staff, and students from outside the College of Law are encouraged to place hold requests with a different pick-up location for items they may need to access during this time. If the resources you need are noncirculating or require browsing, please reach out to lawreference@niu.edu. Non-NIU patrons are also encouraged to send an email or call for assistance during this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding, while we provide our students with the quiet study space they need.
