A public access computer is located across from the Circulation Desk. It has access to a limited number of law library databases as well as general internet access. Internet use on this computer should be restricted to sites related to legal research or government information.
A limited number of laptops are available for checkout to NIU College of Law students on a first-come, first-served basis at the Law Library Circulation Desk. The loan period is four hours, and laptops must be returned before the library's closing time. Fees will be assessed for any laptop reported lost, damaged, or stolen. Please review the policy document below for details.
Wifi access is available throughout the library. If you are not affiliated with NIU, campus visitors can gain access to the internet by connecting to the ‘NIUvisitor’ Wi-Fi network. This network requires users to register and limits access to the network to 5 days from the date of registration. For more information, see the registration instructions (PDF).
In the College of Law, Anywhere Prints machines are available for printing or copying on campus. They are located near the main door of the Law Library and in the North Wing. All patrons may use the Anywhere printers to scan, print or make copies.
The policies and procedures of the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library apply to all law library patrons: faculty, students, staff, and visitors. The law library reserves the right to update or modify these policies at any time and without prior notice.
