Locating the Full Text

Finding the full text of articles can be challenging. Here are 3 ways we can help:

  • If you are using a database, click the red FIND IT button to get the full text or order it.
  • If you are using Google Scholar, setup full text links from us using instructions below.
  • If you know the citation information (title, author, etc.), use Citation Linker to check for full text from us, or order it.

Connect Google Scholar to full text from NIU Libraries

Did you know that you can setup Google Scholar to find the full text for materials that we have at the library? Here’s how:

  1. In Google Scholar, click on Settings from the menu (3 lines on the upper left-hand corner of the screen).
  2. Click on Library Links.
  3. Search for Northern Illinois University.
  4. Check off “Northern Illinois University - View It @ NIU"
  5. Save.

Your search results will now include “View It @ NIU” links. For more information about using View IT @ NIU to access full text, see Using FIND IT to Access the Full Text.
