Basics of Article Database Searching

Article databases allow you to search for relevant articles in hundreds, sometimes thousands of journals simultaneously. They are an essential tool for research. But because NIU has over 200 databases, it is hard to decide which database to search in. That is why NIU librarians have created SUBJECT SPECIFIC lists of databases for your use.

Not all articles you find in your chosen database are available in full text in that database. To see if the article you want is are available in another database or if you have to request it through interlibrary loan, visit the Using FIND IT to Access Full Text page.
