Fall 2022 Library Services Updates: Checking out Materials

This guide provides information about library services, resources, research, and instruction support that are available in the event that the University is experiencing brief or prolonged closure.

Finding and Retrieving Materials

The main collection stacks on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor are open for browsing and self-retrieval.

NIU faculty, students, and staff may still search for and request NIU items for check-out and pick-up through HuskieSearch. See below for more information.

Visitor Library Card holders may also request NIU items through HuskieSearch, but need to follow these instructions

If you need help finding an item, use our Chat with a Librarian service or contact your subject specialist. Also check out the Virtual Browse feature within Huskie Search that appears at the bottom of each record and allows users to browse nearby items on the shelf.
